{"id":64,"date":"2009-06-03T15:16:51","date_gmt":"2009-06-03T20:16:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chubbycrow.com\/annesblog\/?p=64"},"modified":"2015-12-13T13:21:45","modified_gmt":"2015-12-13T18:21:45","slug":"a-gem-of-a-picture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chubbycrowrecords.com\/annesblog\/a-gem-of-a-picture\/","title":{"rendered":"A Gem of a Picture"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/N12HsWb8v3g?version=3&amp;rel=0&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;fs=1&amp;hl=en-US&amp;autohide=2&amp;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p>It is always amaz\u00ading to me how every indi\u00advid\u00adual brings their own unique sparkle to the expe\u00adri\u00adence of music.&nbsp; I mean, you can sit down thir\u00adty peo\u00adple in a room, give each of them a sheet of paper and a box of crayons, put on some music for them to hear, and say \u201cLis\u00adten close\u00adly, and draw what it sounds like\u2026\u201d.\u2026&nbsp; And despite the fact that all hear the exact same music in the same room at the same time, and all have the same col\u00adors of crayons, each per\u00adson comes up with a total\u00adly dif\u00adfer\u00adent and pre\u00adcious gem of a pic\u00adture!&nbsp; Now, isn\u2019t that kind of remark\u00adable?<br>\n<!--more--><br>\nSo I was thrilled recent\u00adly to open my morn\u00ading email and find that a won\u00adder\u00adful North Car\u00adoli\u00adna edu\u00adca\u00adtor named Lin\u00adda Kendzier\u00ads\u00adki had writ\u00adten to me about a project that she had been work\u00ading on using my music.&nbsp; Appar\u00adent\u00adly, she had heard my \u201cColum\u00adbia: We Dare to Dream\u201d CD and had felt so inspired by the music that, as she said, \u201cI had to do it, I just had to do it for myself!\u201d&nbsp; She had tak\u00aden her favorite NASA pho\u00adtos of the uni\u00adverse (most of them images tak\u00aden from the Hub\u00adble tele\u00adscope), and arranged them as an artis\u00adtic slide show using musi\u00adcal excerpts from the CD.&nbsp; She called her cre\u00adation \u201cBeau\u00adti\u00adful Uni\u00adverse.\u201d&nbsp; Lin\u00adda admit\u00adted that the amaz\u00ading results of her project sur\u00adprised her, as it was her first film, and from that she got the idea to show the film at her high school\u2019s upcom\u00ading \u201cSpace Day\u201d cel\u00ade\u00adbra\u00adtion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLin\u00adda K\u201d (as she likes to be called) was inspired!&nbsp; She loved the music\u2026 and she had lis\u00adtened close\u00adly and grabbed her crayons, so to speak, and had cre\u00adat\u00aded her own pre\u00adcious gem of a pic\u00adture.&nbsp; And she want\u00aded to share it with me and with every\u00adone who loves and believes in space explo\u00adration.&nbsp; I was intrigued!<\/p>\n<p>And sur\u00adprised.&nbsp; Holy cow, what a film!&nbsp; It\u2019s true, I\u2019ve always been wowed by the incred\u00adi\u00adble images tak\u00aden by the Hub\u00adble tele\u00adscope\u2026 shim\u00admer\u00ading star clus\u00adters, and sen\u00adsu\u00adous neb\u00adu\u00adlae and all their col\u00adors, and all the count\u00adless galax\u00adies that just blow your mind away.\u2026&nbsp; But to see ALL these beau\u00adti\u00adful images flash\u00ading by in the slide show as the music from \u201cColum\u00adbia\u201d was play\u00ading, I was struck and awed.&nbsp; Linda\u2019s \u201cBeau\u00adti\u00adful Universe\u201d\u2013it was a dif\u00adfer\u00adent vision than the one that I had in my mind when com\u00adpos\u00ading the music.&nbsp; But it\u2019s every bit as valid and inspir\u00ading and potent and human a pic\u00adture as I could ever imag\u00adine.&nbsp; And I kept think\u00ading about how the STS-107 crew of Colum\u00adbia would have loved to have seen the film and would have believed (as I do) in what it stands for.<\/p>\n<p>So, if you haven\u2019t watched the film yet, be sure to check it out.&nbsp; You\u2019re in for a real treat!&nbsp; And to Lin\u00adda K\u2013you go girl!!&nbsp; Thanks for your inspiration\u2013an A++ job with your crayons!&nbsp; It\u2019s a gem of a pic\u00adture, a col\u00adlec\u00adtion of great beau\u00adty\u2026 and how for\u00adtu\u00adnate for the rest of us, to be able to watch it and in it see the sparkle of your soul.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is always amaz\u00ading to me how every indi\u00advid\u00adual brings their own unique sparkle to the expe\u00adri\u00adence of music.
